Sharifah Shafika Alsagoff

Shafika is a Partner in Zaid Ibrahim & Co. She has more than 28 years of experience in Islamic finance, investments and capital markets.  

Shafika’s practice is diverse, including both retail and commercial Islamic finance, project finance, corporate restructurings. Shariah-compliant investments, real estate and regulatory issues. Her clients include sovereigns and other government-related entities, international financial institutions and corporate service providers. She also advises clients internationally on various Islamic capital markets, investments and waqf structures. Shafika has vast experience in the preparation of documentation templates for Islamic products offered by the Islamic Financial institutions both in Malaysia and abroad.

Shafika is also active in public engagements both locally and internationally. She conducts talks, seminars and training sessions in Islamic finance and Shariah-compliant investments to government-linked and private institutions.

Shafika was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1995 and has been in active legal practice since then. She was co-chair of the Islamic Finance Committee of the Malaysian Bar Council in 2023 and chairperson of the Ah-Hoc Waqf Committee in 2024. She is currently a trainer for the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finnace Malaysia (ASAS) CSA and CSP Programmes.
