Iman Sufia is an Associate in the Government Advisory practice group at Zaid Ibrahim & Co.. Her practice focuses on law reform and public sector advisory. She advises and supports ministries and agencies on legislative and policy initiatives across a range of sectors, including, but not limited to, artificial intelligence, digital economy, digital infrastructure including data centres, regulatory sandbox, and startup ecosystem.
Prior to joining the Firm, Iman Sufia gained diverse experience with leading corporations and a law firm in Kuala Lumpur. She was exposed to a broad range of legal and regulatory matters across various industries, including the oil and gas and financial services sectors, with a particular focus on legal compliance, data privacy, and corporate advisory matters.
Iman Sufia has assisted in the review and development of primary and subsidiary legislation, legal and policy research, regulatory mapping, feasibility studies, and the preparation of legal opinions, reports, guidelines, and other policy instruments. She has also been actively involved in stakeholder engagements and consultations with public sector agencies and industry participants, supporting Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) workshops, reviewing Regulatory Impact Statements (RIS), and contributing to the development of legislative and regulatory frameworks.
In addition to her public sector advisory work, Iman Sufia has assisted private clients on policy, advocacy, and regulatory matters relating to emerging industries and national development initiatives. Her experience includes advising on areas such as digital infrastructure, sustainability, supply chain, and talent development, as well as supporting stakeholders in navigating evolving regulatory requirements and developments arising from Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda.
