Amin is the Managing Partner of Zaid Ibrahim & Co. He has over two decades of experience advising clients on project development, regulatory compliance and project finance, particularly in the areas of electricity, oil and gas, highways and rail. Amin is recognised for his work in renewable energy and sustainability, having recently assisted in the introduction of battery energy storage systems and the trading of renewable energy credits and carbon credits.
Amin has been consistently ranked by leading legal journals including Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Chambers and Partners, IFLR and Asialaw. One directory notes that “Amin's clear and persuasive communication style, coupled with his dedication to client satisfaction, makes him a trusted advisor”.
Amin is familiar with legislative reform and assisted in the drafting of Malaysia’s Renewable Energy Act 2011, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 and Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage Act 2025. Amin was also a country representative in negotiations for the creation of the regulatory framework for ASEAN’s regional power grid.
Amin Abdul Majid was a Tenaga Nasional Foundation scholar and led the legal team in the Planning Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad prior to joining Zaid Ibrahim & Co. Amin is currently a member of the Bar Council’s Environment and Climate Change Committee and Joint Environment, Social and Governance Committee. He is also a fellow of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics of the University of Malaya.
